MALMESBURY
(N Gauge 2mm)
ANALOUGE

The layout was acquired in November 2018. It was built  several years ago by a vicar in the Midlands. He sadly died and the layout was offered first to Malmesbury Museum and then to the Steam Museum in Swindon. Both declined it ( reasons unknown ).

As secretary of Swindon Model Railway Club I was contacted as perhaps a third time lucky attempt. Sadly we had no room so I asked if I could have it. The offer was accepted , the only thing I had to do was collect it from Leicester which I did.

The model is scaled down to half size but it shows the flavour of the line. The cattle dock is  also in the wrong place so I hope I can rectify this at some point. Some of the layout has been 'refreshed ' and this will be an ongoing project.

Malmesbury closed to passengers in the early 1950's but freight was  carried on for about another 10 years. In the last 2 years the average number of passengers per train was 1 ! The loco shed is still in use as a tyre depot.
